Senior Lunch Program:The City of Monterey Park continues to work with Los Angeles County and the YWCA Intervale San Gabriel Valley to provide meals to Monterey Park residents. Contact Langley Center at 626-307-1395 for current details about the program and to register. Seniors 60 years and older must be registered with Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging to qualify for the lunch program.

Meals-on-Wheels: The Meals-on-Wheels program offers home delivery meals to homebound seniors 60 years and up. Frozen meals are delivered at your door once a week to enjoy at home. Restaurant Delivered Meals: FEMA-funded program that will assist older adults and other eligible individuals who are socially isolated and unable to cook their own meals. People interested in receiving meals through this program can apply online or call 2-1-1.

Dial-A-Ride Transportation Services: The city continues to recognize Dial-A-Ride services as an essential program for our senior residents. Dial-A-Ride services will remain available at 626-307-1396 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with the following modification to ensure public safety: Rides will only be provided for essential trips to medical facilities, grocery stores or local pharmacies. 

Dial-A-Taxi Supplemental Transportation Services: The city's Dial-A-Taxi service is also available 24 hours,7 days a week for senior residents. Residents must complete an application and provide proof of residency (State issued ID Card or Utility Bill) and one-time $5.00 registration fee. Due to the COVID-19 emergency declaration, applications will be issued on a need basis to ensure transportation services are met. ACCESS Transportation to a Vaccination Site: Access Services is committed to helping our riders get vaccinated against COVID-19. Along with our partners at the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and Federal Emergency Management Agency, Access has worked to implement ADA paratransit service to drive-thru Medical Points of Dispensing (MPODs) across Los Angeles County.    

Access riders can book next-day trips to COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the following drive-thru vaccination sites:

  Access riders should make sure they have a drive-thru vaccination appointment before booking their Access trips. Riders can call 626.532.1616, select the preferred language, and select option 2 between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm to book a reservation for an Access trip to a drive-thru vaccination site. Drive-thru vaccination trips are limited to pick-up locations within 20 miles of each vaccination site. Regular fare applies for vaccination trips.  

  Riders who book a trip to a drive-thru vaccination site will not need to get out of the vehicle to get a vaccination. The same vehicle and driver will be assigned to the entire trip, and enough time will be built into the schedule for the post-vaccination observation period. After the observation period, the driver will complete the return trip.

Langley Senior Center

The Recreation and Community Services Department offers an array of Senior Services. Most activities are based out of the Langley Center, located at 400 West Emerson Avenue, Monterey Park CA 91754. 

Langley Center provides a variety of opportunities for seniors to participate in learning classes for personal growth and development. Special recreation events and informational programs are scheduled throughout the year. Activities at the Langley Center include: daily lunch program, fitness programs, free health screenings and case management services.

Commission on Aging

The Commission on Aging meets every third Monday of the month at 11:00 a.m. at the Langley Center. The Commission on Aging is responsible for defining the needs of the senior community and advises the City Council regarding the problems and services relating to the senior citizens of Monterey Park. The commission also serves as a liaison to other agencies and commissions on matters relating to senior programs and community events.
