Santa's Jolly Journey

On December 16th, starting at 6 pm Santa will be traveling through Monterey Park escorted by the Monterey Park Police and Fire Departments to wave and spread holiday cheer through the City. Santa will begin his journey at 6pm from City Hall and travel along a designate route through each of the five districts in the City. Santa is excited to see all of Monterey Park's families!

Mindful Coloring

Take a break from the stresses of the day and join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring and socializing. Coloring pages and colored pencils will be provided or you can bring your own coloring books and supplies to use.

Documentary Discovery- Becoming Santa

The story of one man entering the culture and character of Santa Claus for a single season. He tries to do everything that Santa is asked to do. Along the way he learns the history and origin of Santa and the ordinary people keeping the spirit alive. This documentary is not rated and runs 92 minutes.

Baby & Toddler Storytime is for children under three years of age. Designed for parents and caregivers to attend with their children, Baby & Toddler Storytime includes short books, music, and nursery rhymes. These programs last about 20-25 minutes. Each baby must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Families are invited to join us for Spanish bilingual storytime, where they will hear books, sing songs and learn vocabulary. Children of all ages and language abilities are welcome.

Cozy Up with a Good Book - Teen Winter Reading Challenge

Snuggle in and read during the winter break! Teens 12-18 years old are invited to participate in the Cozy Up with a Good Book - Teen Winter Reading Challenge by registering at montereypark.beanstack.org. Teens will track their hours for a chance to win a shark-hoodie blanket, books or a snack box. The 2023 Teen Winter Reading Challenge is sponsored by the Friends of the Monterey Park Library.

Afternoon Matinee- The Nightmare Before Christmas

Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington longs to spread the joy of Christmas. But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere. This film is rated PG and runs 76 minutes.

Tweens in grades 4th - 8th are invited to join the monthly InbeTWEENers Club! Tweens will participate in activities meant to build friendships, self-esteem and life skills. This month, tweens will create a variety of winter crafts to prepare for the holiday season. No registration is necessary.

Art Zone

Kids ages 5-12 will create masterpieces based on the work of famous artists. This month kids will create colorful patterns inspired by Henri Matisse. No registration is necessary, but materials will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

STEAM is STEM plus Art! Children ages 3-5 will spark their imaginations with activities and sensory play that encourage exploration and innovation. This month, we will explore shapes and engineering by building snowflakes with craft materials. All aboard! All materials will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
