Lifeguard Positions Available

The City of Monterey Park is pleased to announce that summer lifeguard positions are now available.

Accepting applications for Lifeguard and Assistant Pool Manager from January 26, 2026 to February 16, 2026.

Those who learn how to lifeguard obtain emergency management abilities and build confidence and sharpen their leadership skills during the summer months. This is invaluable work experience for any job or career moving forward.

George Elder Park Pool

Need to get certified?  The City of Monterey Park will periodically hold American Red Cross lifeguard training courses. Classes are available to those 16 years and older.  Training will include coverage of basic Lifeguarding Skills, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Contact us for more details.

Certification course is the initial base course for individuals that are taking the course for the first time or have a certification expired by more than 30 days.  Recertification courses are only available for those with a current certification or expired by 30 days or less.

Blended Learning Course Information

American Red Cross Lifeguard Course is now offered in a blended learning format - online and in-person.  Approximately 6-7 hours of online content must be completed prior to the first in-person meeting.  The in-person content takes approximately 21-22 hours.  A prerequisite swimming skills assessment must also be completed at the beginning of the first in-person meeting.  To register, please email Scott Imaizumi at simaizumi@montereypark.ca.gov.
