The AO/UV facility uses state of the art equipment to remove contaminants in the groundwater. In 2021, the Centralized Groundwater Treatment System was further modified with the addition of a per-and polyfluoralkyl substance (PFAS) removal system. | ||

| The catch basin device installation project consists of installing Connector Pipe Screen (CPS) units to city-owned and county-owned catch basins at various locations. These CPS devices are used to prevent the trash from entering the storm drain system during dry weather and moderate storm flows by keeping trash and debris inside the catch basin. Phase 1 included the installation of CPS units in 130 county-owned catch basins. Phase 2 includes installation at an additional 100 catch basin locations. On January 18, 2023 the City approved the First Amendment to Public Works Contract with United Storm Water to retrofit an additional 100 catch basins for a revised contract amount of $199,395. The project was completed in December 2023. | ||

| In December 2023, the City completed the emergency waterline construction project on Monterey Pass road from Vagabond Drive to Floral Drive. The project included the construction of two parallel waterlines, replacing all water services, fire lines, fire hydrants and backflow devices. The original waterline was a cement-lined steel pipe over fifty years old, that had been breaking regularly, resulting in water shutdowns affecting nearby businesses. The new waterline is a C900 pipe, which is a PVC pressure pipe, manufactured to meet the needs of modern municipal water systems. The newly installed system provides various interconnects and a connection to the Vagabond pump station, which will result in a more robust and dependable system to serve the nearby residents and businesses. City staff worked closely with the contractor to keep businesses informed of the progress regularly and to update and coordinate when a shutdown was planned to avoid and minimize impact. | This project will enhance the appearance and drivability of the street and will protect the base of the roadway from water damage and weathering as well as minimize the aging of the existing road and correct raveling and any other defects caused by weather elements.
